Our First Minimalism Step!

We are so excited to be starting this minimalism journey as a family this year, and since we just couldn't wait til we got back from our vacation this month to start we decided to purge a few things before formally tackling our first minimalism challenge!

So today it was time to talk about the entertainment center. Here's what we are working with:

Cub was such a big help with stacking everything for me, and pulling out all the Dvds. We only kept the DVDs that I know we would watch within the next few months, and family favorites that aren't already on our Netflix or Hulu account. It almost doesn't make sense for my generation to even have hard copies of their movies, since we are always hopping online to our Netflix account to watch. Also, we live about 1 mile walking distance from our library! I highly recommend using your tax dollars to rent movies verses your hard earned $4 going to rent something for 48 hours. It may not sound like a lot right now, but those $4 charges definitely add up over time.

So the pile on the left is stuff that we are getting rid of {hello, V-Stock!}, and the pile on the right is the stuff that we are keeping!

Annndddd here's the after purge + organization + cleaning/dusting picture:

Can someone say "HELLO SPACE?!" I am so in love with not having 50 + objects spilling out of our entertainment center! Day One and I think it's safe to say our family is hooked!!
